Head of Development Program at Global Policy Research Group
Our research on chemicals, particularly focusing on issues relating to lead exposure, significantly contributes to a healthier environment in several ways. After our initial desk research and consultations with organizations, we concluded that whilst an increasing number of countries are introducing laws to combat lead paint, often these regulations are not being effectively enforced in certain low- and middle-income countries. By identifying implementation gaps within these policies, we pinpoint areas where interventions are needed most urgently, leading to more effective strategies for prevention and mitigation. Such research output is going to be crucial for the NGOs and governments already working to mitigate lead exposure. In fact, we have been in touch with Pure Earth, LEEP, EPA, Center for Global Development and validated this need.
