Is there lead in my paint? All about testing and labs

The Secretariat of the Strategic Approach to Chemicals Management (SAICM) and the University of Cape Town (UCT) have established a Community of Practice (CoP) on Lead in Paint to bring representatives from different sectors together and to create a learning network around issues related to the elimination of Lead Paint. This is a summary of the discussion on Is there lead in my paint? All about testing and labs, which took place on 8 December 2021.

Presenters: Mihaela Claudia Paun (UNEP), Jeiel Guarino (IPEN), Tamar Berman (Ministry of Health, Israel), Adam M. Kiefer (Mercer University in Macon, USA)

The fourth Lead in Paint Community of Practice (LiP CoP) discussion for 2021, introduced by Mihaela Paun from UNEP, explored the role of lead paint testing in eliminating lead paint. Jeiel Guarino from IPEN presented on testing for awareness raising. Tamar Berman from the Israel Ministry of Health presented on testing for regulatory development and implementation. Dr Adam Kiefer presented on testing for research to compare screening and compliance testing applications.
