Online discussion: Awareness raising materials for lead in paint elimination

Regional meeting for the development of a regional standard on lead in paint in the ECOWAS region
Lead is a cumulative toxicant that poses serious risks to human health and development, with children being especially vulnerable. Lead-containing paint remains one of the major sources of lead exposure for children globally and has been identified as one of the international Emerging Policy Issues of concern by the Strategic Approach for International Chemicals Management (SAICM). Since then, the international community- governments, industry and non-governmental organizations-have been working together to promote the establishment of lead paint laws in all countries

Workshop on Toys: “Virtual Expert Group”
In July 2020, UNEP convened an online meeting of key stakeholders from the toy sector to present the initial results of a study screening chemicals in toys for potential concern and to consult preliminary research results on an overview of regulatory approaches. The meeting also focussed on identifying opportunities for further action to address the issue of chemicals of concern in toys on an international level. Paint Reformulation in SMEs Launching Workshop: Indonesia
The event, organized by Nexus 4 (formerly BaliFokus, an IPEN NGO partner) aims to officially launch the "Elimination of Lead in Paint" project implementation in Indonesia as well as share and discuss information related to lead paint both in the global and country context. The overall goal of the workshop is to discuss in detail the project work plan and the draft technical guidelines on paint reformulation as it applies to SMEs. Paint Reformulation in SMEs Launching Workshop: NCPC China
The event, organized by the Chinese National Cleaner Production Center (CNCPC), aims to share and discuss information related to lead paint both in the global and country context. Data and information on health and economic impact, country lead paint testing, current legislation, and paint market situation are presented and discussed with government officials (environment, industry, etc).
