The Global Forum on Environment will discuss the challenges posed by chemicals and provide knowledge on effective and sustainable policies for the sound management of chemicals. The event will bring together leading actors in the field of chemicals management to promote effective engagement, collaboration and action on the sound management of chemicals and waste. Participants will include regulators and policy makers in charge of chemical safety in OECD member and partner countries as well as relevant stakeholders from intergovernmental organisations

The third meeting of the Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG) for the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) took place from 2-4 April 2019, in Montevideo, Uruguay. The functions of the OEWG are to consider the implementation, development and enhancement of SAICM, including by: Reviewing and prioritizing proposals for emerging policy issues in preparation of the next session of the Conference; Continuing discussion on work on emerging policy issues; Considering proposals for the inclusion of new activities in the Global

The event aims to share and discuss information related to lead paint both in the global and country context. Data and information on health and economic impact, country lead paint testing, current legislation, and paint market situation are presented and discussed with government officials (environment, health, industry). The SAICM GEF project is presented and includes the work plans for the SME demonstration pilots. Project work on legal assistance is also introduced.
